What are the best reasons to buy SKY?

We're proud to say that every SKY Chair is the result of the best materials in the hands of people who care about quality. We make our classic hanging chair out of cotton canvas which is treated with natural paraffin wax for water-resistance and mildew-resistance. We've made dozens of prototypes out of other fabrics over the years. Even though vinyl, cordura, denier nylon and other petroleum-based synthetics are less expensive, we choose our treated canvas for comfort and durability. From the beginning we have always made it as easy as possible for our customers to contact us at no cost to them - whether with praise, suggestions, or to find the craft show or art fair nearest them.

Why North American White Ash for dowels?

White Ash is very strong and also flexible. The homer-crushing bat of Barry Bonds is White Ash, as was Babe Ruth's. Also, the Nature Conservancy has expressed the opinion that it is not an endangered wood source and is one which, under current harvesting practices, can replenish itself.

Why hand stain the dowels?

The process of hand staining each dowel takes three days because we allow each dowel to dry completely before applying a second coat. By hand is the only way to ensure that stain is applied evenly, and allows us to examine every dowel for strength and straight grain.
